About us

An independent French ETI (Intermediate-Sized Enterprise), Laboratoires Brothier specializes in the development of biopolymers extracted from brown algae, intended for hemostasis and tissue repair.

A global pioneer in the use of calcium alginates, BROTHIER developed the first industrial processes in the mid-20th century to produce these marine-based biopolymers (brown seaweed) in textile form.

The resulting high-tech compresses, dressings, patches, and powders are used in numerous medical applications, from treating nosebleeds to managing complex surgical wounds.

Over time, Brothier has established fundamental research partnerships with public, private, and military centres, including CNRS, INSERM, and the Biomedical Research Institute of the Armed Forces. The findings from these research efforts allow Brothier to design the therapies of tomorrow.
